Base Salary

$197k - $345k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design and end-to-end delivery of Unified Observability features from architecture through production operation.
  • Work with Product Management to align and steer cross-functional architectural decisions.
  • Drive cross-team alignment on data ingestion, query performance, cost boundaries, and platform integration.
  • Define instrumentation standards, data onboarding, access control, and the transition from team-specific tooling to a shared platform.
  • Use AI tools for code generation, refactoring, testing, code review, debugging, and production investigation.
  • Raise engineering quality through technical mentorship, design reviews, written communication, hiring, and team-practice development.
  • Shape technical strategy across platform and product organizations, including capacity planning and dependency management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years in a technical leadership or principal-level role.
  • Hands-on experience with Claude Code or similar agentic coding environments.
  • Deep proficiency in Java, including API design, data modeling, and service-layer architecture.
  • Hands-on frontend and UI development experience with React or Lightning Web Components.
  • Experience operating distributed, multi-tenant systems at scale.
  • Hands-on knowledge of observability and streaming systems including OpenTelemetry, Kafka, HBase, ClickHouse, or equivalent time-series databases, plus Grafana.
  • Ability to decompose product requirements into parallel engineering workstreams and drive execution across a small team.
  • Preferred experience in observability, monitoring, telemetry pipelines, SRE/on-call tooling, or incident-response systems.
  • Preferred familiarity with OpenTelemetry, OCSF, OpenTelemetry collectors, semantic conventions, instrumentation libraries, and PromQL.
  • Preferred experience with high-cardinality metrics, distributed tracing, log aggregation, data visualization, dashboard UIs, and large telemetry datasets.
  • Preferred experience leading technical strategy across platform and product organizations and mentoring senior engineers at team or organizational scale.
