Base Salary
$262k - $364k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive technical strategy for hardware security across Google’s fleet, including transitions to open-source Roots of Trust and post-quantum cryptography readiness.
- Co-design secure architectures with hardware teams and deploy software, firmware, and utilities for custom security chips, BIOS, and operating-system kernels.
- Connect bare-metal and RTOS systems using Rust and C with cryptographic services for certificate-authority operations, attestation, and credential binding.
- Represent Google in the hardware security ecosystem and drive roadmaps and implementations for OpenTitan, Caliptra, and TPM standards.
- Guide distributed teams through complex deliverables from conception through deployment, while improving engineering standards, automated hardware-in-the-loop testing, and cross-functional execution.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and set technical direction for project teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 7 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture and testing or launching software products.
- Experience with embedded systems, security standards, C, C++, and Rust.
- Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Preferred: 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- Preferred: 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
- Preferred: experience with cryptographic algorithms and hardware design.
