Responsibilities
- Architect and design RaptorDB deployment, operations, and resilience solutions across hybrid datacenter and public cloud environments.
- Evolve backup, restore, replication, failover, and disaster recovery systems in collaboration with database development and infrastructure teams.
- Drive adoption of Kubernetes and cloud-native PostgreSQL technologies and establish reference architectures.
- Develop maintainable software with automated testing, code reviews, and deployment pipelines.
- Lead performance analysis and optimization involving backup and restore times, recovery time objectives, and resource utilization.
- Respond to production incidents and provide expert database operations guidance to internal and customer-facing teams.
- Document operational knowledge through runbooks, architectural decision records, and other documentation.
- Set technical direction and lead cross-functional architecture and design sessions.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, including 8+ years focused on database systems, infrastructure, or cloud platforms.
- Deep expertise in database operations, operational management, and backup and restore strategies.
- Experience designing and building distributed systems with high availability, failover, and disaster recovery architectures.
- Hands-on proficiency with multiple programming languages, including Go and Python or equivalent languages.
- Experience with Kubernetes and database operators.
- Experience operating databases in cloud environments.
- In-depth Linux knowledge and strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Experience collaborating across organizations, setting technical direction, and making architectural decisions in uncertain environments.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to engineering and non-technical audiences.
- Experience integrating AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving; proficiency with AI-assisted tools is expected.
- Background in open-source databases is a plus.
