Base Salary

$139k - $183k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize deep learning models for biological image analysis and classification.
  • Deploy and maintain production-grade neural network models on AWS or directly on imaging instruments.
  • Apply image processing and computer vision techniques including segmentation, feature extraction, and quality scoring.
  • Develop and manage end-to-end machine learning pipelines from data ingestion through inference.
  • Analyze single-cell, multiomic, and large-scale imaging datasets to support biological interpretation and model improvement.
  • Collaborate with biology, software engineering, and instrumentation teams to translate biological requirements into modeling objectives.
  • Communicate model performance metrics, findings, and technical trade-offs through reports and presentations.
  • Evaluate advances in deep learning, computer vision, and computational biology for internal research applications.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field with 5–7 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 0–3 years of experience.
  • Required hands-on experience developing and deploying deep learning models for image analysis in production environments.
  • Strong proficiency with CNNs, Vision Transformers, U-Net, and attention-based models.
  • Proficiency in Python, PyTorch, torchvision, OpenCV, Scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas, and related tools.
  • Experience with cloud computing, model serving, Docker, and GPU-accelerated compute.
  • Experience with biological or biomedical image modalities such as fluorescence microscopy, brightfield, or high-content imaging is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with self-supervised or contrastive learning, model calibration, uncertainty quantification, performance evaluation frameworks, and single-cell or multiomic analysis is preferred.
  • Knowledge of experimental design and statistical analysis, with a strong background in statistics and quantitative reasoning about model outputs.
  • Ability to work across scientific and engineering disciplines with strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

  • Base compensation is listed at $139,000–$183,000 per year.

  • Domestic travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
