Responsibilities

  • Support development, debugging, and testing of embedded software, hardware interfaces, diagnostic capabilities, automated testing, and development tools.
  • Perform hands-on testing and validation of hardware-in-the-loop environments and evaluate system behavior against expected results.
  • Reproduce and investigate software and hardware-in-the-loop failures, document results, and help identify sources of unexpected behavior.
  • Improve test coverage and validation processes based on hands-on system testing.
  • Instrument software components and route and validate telemetry data from source to destination.
  • Integrate system signals into HMI and Grafana for monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Complete a long-duration project culminating in a technical deliverable and presentation.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in at least a bachelor’s degree program and entering the junior or senior year of study.
  • Have prior internship experience or significant project team, laboratory, or research experience exceeding one year.
  • Experience with embedded software development, debugging, or testing is preferred.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing or hands-on software/hardware integration and validation is preferred.
  • Experience with software instrumentation, telemetry, system monitoring, HMI, or Grafana is preferred.
  • A GPA of 3.5 or above, university leadership experience, strong communication and analytical skills, attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work independently and collaboratively are preferred.

Benefits

  • Two summer cohort schedules are available: May 17–August 13 or June 14–September 10.
  • The internship is based at the Torrance, California headquarters and requires onsite work five days per week; remote and hybrid arrangements are not available.
  • Interns receive a relocation and housing stipend as part of the offer package.
