Responsibilities
- Develop physics-based software models for testing spacecraft subsystem control, including propulsion, guidance and attitude control, thermal, power, and communications systems.
- Author drivers for simulation hardware.
- Build and use robust tools for rapid deployment of quality code.
- Perform data analysis and anomaly investigation to identify and resolve software bugs.
- Support integration and testing of spacecraft subsystems.
- Own a software engineering project end-to-end and support on-orbit spacecraft operations.
Requirements
- Development experience in Rust, C++, or a similar compiled language.
- Coursework or experience in numerical methods, ordinary differential equations, mechanics, and electricity and magnetism.
- Availability for a minimum 12-week internship in person at K2's headquarters in Torrance.
- Preferred experience with scientific Python, NumPy, SciPy, Julia, MATLAB, or similar tools.
- Preferred experience creating simulation systems for hardware-in-the-loop and hardware-out-of-the-loop testing.
- Preferred experience with Monte Carlo simulations, probability and statistics, linear algebra, signal processing, controls, or orbital mechanics.
- Preferred experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery systems, Linux systems programming, and driver development.
- Basic knowledge of electronics, computer architecture, and control systems.
Benefits
- Hourly pay range is $30-$40 per hour.
- Housing and travel stipend may be available.
