Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java backend systems and applications.
- Build and consume APIs and support microservices-based solutions and system integrations.
- Implement business logic and contribute to development, testing, debugging, code reviews, and unit testing.
- Write efficient SQL queries and work with Oracle or other relational databases.
- Support event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as Kafka.
- Assist with deploying and maintaining applications in Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift environments.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, designers, and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver solutions.
- Ensure applications meet security, performance, compliance, scalability, and maintainability requirements.
- Contribute to technical communities, continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and engineering standards.
- Manage risk, strengthen controls, and follow applicable policies, regulations, and codes of conduct.
Requirements
- Hands-on Java development experience using JDK 11, 17, or 21.
- Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- Experience with Spring Boot or Spring Framework.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and backend integrations.
- Experience writing efficient SQL queries and working with Oracle or relational databases.
- Experience participating in development, testing, debugging, and code reviews.
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies and ceremonies.
- Basic understanding of event-driven architecture and messaging systems such as Kafka.
- Exposure to Docker and deployment on Kubernetes or OpenShift.
- Basic understanding of High-Level Design concepts is valued.
- Experience with Camunda BPM or workflow tools is valued.
- Frontend exposure using React.js is valued.
- Cloud platform exposure, particularly AWS, is valued.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is valued.
- Prior banking or financial services experience is valued.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge, resolve problems, collaborate with stakeholders, and communicate complex information.
