Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of foundational platform services used by engineering teams across Adyen.
- Drive complex cross-team technical initiatives from problem discovery through production adoption.
- Partner with product managers and engineers to identify shared platform needs and define priorities.
- Design and evolve APIs, including compatibility, migration, and adoption strategies.
- Architect resilient solutions spanning multiple data centers.
- Own deployment, observability, operation, and continuous improvement of live services.
- Use developer feedback to improve the reliability, usability, and adoption of platform services.
- Mentor engineers and raise technical standards within the team.
Requirements
- 7+ years of backend software development experience.
- Proficiency in Java and strong understanding of the JVM.
- Experience with Postgres or similar relational databases.
- Experience with CI/CD, observability, performance analysis, and incident response.
- Ability to lead ambiguous technical initiatives involving multiple teams.
- Proven experience designing and operating distributed systems.
- Product-oriented approach to software development.
- Willingness to operate, deploy, and troubleshoot applications in a live production environment.
- Bonus: experience with large-scale, multi-region, or mission-critical systems; security practices; internal developer platforms; or platform migrations and adoption initiatives.
