Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and frontend components for search functionality.
- Build and optimize distributed systems supporting high-performance, reliable, and low-latency search experiences.
- Implement semantic search algorithms, indexing, and information retrieval techniques.
- Integrate AI-driven search capabilities with data scientists, AI engineers, product managers, frontend engineers, and UX designers.
- Monitor performance, identify bottlenecks, and tune search systems for efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Research search technologies and experiment with improvements that advance the platform.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with a record of building and scaling microservices and data retrieval systems.
- 5+ years of experience with C# and .NET, unit testing, object-oriented programming, and web services.
- 3+ years of Python experience and the ability to work across Python and .NET repositories.
- 3+ years of experience managing large-scale Redis clusters.
- 2+ years of experience maintaining and tuning PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with xUnit, Postman, and test automation in a Test Driven Development environment.
- Experience with Terraform or Pulumi, Kafka or event-driven architectures, Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins pipelines using Scala.
- Experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure and cloud-native services for AI/ML, storage, and processing.
- Experience with SaaS application development, distributed systems, cloud operations, and driving features from concept to launch.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Preferred experience includes Elasticsearch, Apache Solr, NLP, semantic search, text processing, New Relic, Snowflake, Ansible, Ninjia2, LaunchDarkly, Scrum, and JIRA.
- Ability to collaborate across regions and adapt to the China team’s timezone.
