Responsibilities

Implement features, user stories, enhancements, and bug fixes under the guidance of senior engineers.
Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, and backend logic using County coding and accessibility standards.
Write documented, maintainable code and perform unit and integration testing.
Participate in code reviews, design reviews, pair programming, sprint activities, estimation, and backlog refinement.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and defects while documenting solutions and development changes.
Collaborate with product, UX, QA, operations, infrastructure, data, support, and release teams.
Support version control, build, deployment, and CI/CD processes.
Prepare technical documentation, system flow diagrams, user demos, and product walkthroughs.
Communicate task status, estimates, blockers, technical challenges, and requirements clearly.
Follow County security policies and maintain traceability across development artifacts.

Education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Three years of work-related software development experience.
Knowledge of one or more of JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
Knowledge of Git, software testing practices, APIs, databases, frontend and backend frameworks, SQL, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud platforms.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, collaboration, adaptability, and attention-to-detail skills.
A valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record, including submission of a 10-year driving history.
Ability to pass and maintain eligibility for a fingerprint-based records check when required for access to criminal justice databases.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, or similar cloud certification is preferred.
Certified Scrum Developer or equivalent Agile certification is preferred.

Standard office environment with occasional travel to County sites and industry conferences.
The role may require access to criminal justice databases and corresponding fingerprint-based records checks.
