Responsibilities
- Implement well-defined software features, user stories, bug fixes, and enhancement requests.
- Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, and backend logic.
- Write documented code following County standards, accessibility guidelines, and security policies.
- Perform unit and integration testing and participate in test-driven development where applicable.
- Conduct peer code reviews, pair programming, design reviews, and technical estimation.
- Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve defects, and document solutions and system changes.
- Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and cross-functional meetings.
- Support version control, build, deployment, and CI/CD processes.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, product teams, UX, QA, operations, infrastructure, data, help desk, and support teams.
- Communicate task status, estimates, blockers, technical challenges, and requirements clearly.
- Prepare user demos, product walkthroughs, technical documentation, and system flow diagrams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a job-related field, or equivalent education and experience.
- Three years of work-related software development experience.
- Knowledge of one or more of JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
- Knowledge of Git version control and software testing practices.
- Knowledge of APIs, databases, SQL, frontend or backend frameworks, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, or similar cloud certification.
- Certified Scrum Developer or equivalent Agile certification is preferred.
- Ability to solve problems, learn new technologies, communicate effectively, collaborate with teams, and deliver quality software.
- Valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record; must provide a copy of a 10-year driving history.
- Must be able to pass and maintain a national fingerprint-based records check if required for access to criminal justice databases.
