Responsibilities

Implement well-defined software features, user stories, bug fixes, and enhancement requests.
Develop and maintain user interfaces, APIs, and backend logic.
Write documented code following County standards, accessibility guidelines, and security policies.
Perform unit and integration testing and participate in test-driven development where applicable.
Conduct peer code reviews, pair programming, design reviews, and technical estimation.
Troubleshoot technical issues, resolve defects, and document solutions and system changes.
Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, retrospectives, backlog refinement, and cross-functional meetings.
Support version control, build, deployment, and CI/CD processes.
Collaborate with senior engineers, product teams, UX, QA, operations, infrastructure, data, help desk, and support teams.
Communicate task status, estimates, blockers, technical challenges, and requirements clearly.
Prepare user demos, product walkthroughs, technical documentation, and system flow diagrams.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a job-related field, or equivalent education and experience.
Three years of work-related software development experience.
Knowledge of one or more of JavaScript, Python, Java, or C#.
Knowledge of Git version control and software testing practices.
Knowledge of APIs, databases, SQL, frontend or backend frameworks, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Preferred certifications include Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Developer Associate, or similar cloud certification.
Certified Scrum Developer or equivalent Agile certification is preferred.
Ability to solve problems, learn new technologies, communicate effectively, collaborate with teams, and deliver quality software.
Valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record; must provide a copy of a 10-year driving history.
Must be able to pass and maintain a national fingerprint-based records check if required for access to criminal justice databases.

Standard office environment with occasional travel to County sites and industry conferences.
The position may require compliance with Dallas County driving-record and criminal-justice information access requirements.
