Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and launch features supporting Splunk’s core search functionality.
- Build robust, fault-tolerant, and scalable distributed systems in multi-threaded and multi-process environments.
- Define and perform search-language optimizations and transformations.
- Analyze and improve the reliability and scalability of search execution pipelines.
- Diagnose customer incidents, identify product and observability gaps, and deliver preventive enhancements.
- Hire, mentor, and develop junior engineers.
- Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance backend search services.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Coding proficiency in C++ and ability to learn languages such as Python, Java, or Go.
- Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and software design.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with distributed systems such as databases, file systems, or storage systems.
- Experience developing CI/CD systems, test automation frameworks, and integrating AI coding assistants and agentic workflows into development and testing.
- Experience with REST, gRPC, or similar communication paradigms.
- Experience with public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Preferred knowledge of deploying and managing services in Kubernetes clusters.
- Preferred knowledge of query languages and processing, including SQL and SPL.
- Passion for solving complex problems and exploring new technologies.
