Responsibilities

  • Build and extend services that schedule work on quantum computers and maintain execution records.
  • Develop mechanisms that determine when systems need retuning and trigger calibration runs.
  • Own persisted data models, migrations, and read/write code.
  • Create tests and harnesses for exercising code against real hardware and simulators.
  • Collaborate with systems teams to roll releases out across the fleet and support deployed services.
  • Improve observability, participate in code reviews, and improve internal APIs.

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in one or more mainstream programming languages.
  • Experience with a systems programming language, or willingness to learn Rust.
  • Comfort with relational databases and SQL, particularly PostgreSQL.
  • Some exposure to networked services and APIs such as gRPC or REST.
  • Exposure to schedulers, job queues, or workflow engines such as Celery, Airflow, Temporal, or Slurm.
  • Comfort working in Linux and debugging running services.
  • Good communication skills across software and other disciplines.
  • A habit of producing appropriate tests and participating in code review.
  • Useful additional experience includes async programming, containers, Kubernetes, closed-loop systems, and scientific computing or research facilities.
