Responsibilities
- Own medium-scale features and components from prototyping through production-ready implementation.
- Design and build practical AI-powered and other applications that solve business problems.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and provide sound, practical recommendations.
- Build and maintain evaluation harnesses and apply prompt engineering, experimentation, and solution-design practices.
- Create reusable components, tools, and patterns for the wider engineering team.
- Collaborate with Innovation teams across Dublin and internationally in an Agile environment.
- Contribute to hackathons, the broader technology community, and a culture of experimentation and learning.
- Support technical quality and help junior colleagues grow through code reviews and pairing.
- Consider the quality, reliability, latency, cost-efficiency, and responsible use of AI systems.
Requirements
- Typically 2–5 years of solid software engineering experience and a record of independently delivering features.
- Experience contributing to production-grade applications and taking features from experimentation into production.
- Hands-on modern JavaScript or TypeScript development with a framework such as React, Vue, or Angular.
- Backend experience with Node.js, NestJS, or similar technologies.
- Experience using Python to build AI-powered workflows, integrations, or applications.
- Good understanding of APIs and integrating AI into real-world products and business processes.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs, including prompt design, tool use, and structured outputs.
- Familiarity with RAG, retrieval pipelines, embeddings, and modern agent patterns.
- Working knowledge of AWS and Kubernetes, plus interest in deploying and scaling AI applications.
- Experience with MCP, vector databases, semantic search, AI evaluation frameworks, testing approaches, or guardrails is advantageous.
- Strong communication, practical problem-solving, collaboration, and willingness to support engineering best practices.
