Responsibilities
- Define and enforce policy-as-code standards for cloud tagging, naming, encryption, network segmentation, and access boundaries.
- Implement governance guardrails using OPA, Sentinel, AWS Config, and Service Control Policies.
- Integrate least-privilege access, compliance, auditability, cloud budgets, anomaly detection, and cost allocation into provisioning workflows.
- Establish organization-wide infrastructure-as-code standards using Terraform, Terraform Cloud, or Pulumi.
- Create and maintain reusable, versioned modules and automate environment provisioning, drift detection and remediation, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
- Design governed reference paths for infrastructure provisioning and service deployment, and collaborate on developer platform integrations.
- Evaluate practical applications of native AI tools for policy review, anomaly detection, and infrastructure automation.
- Influence platform, security, FinOps, and product engineering teams without direct authority while mentoring engineers and setting technical direction.
Requirements
- At least eight years of experience in Cloud, DevOps, or platform engineering, including principal- or staff-level experience defining technical direction.
- Strong experience with major cloud platforms, including AWS, Azure, or GCP, ideally across more than one platform.
- Extensive hands-on infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or Pulumi at scale, including module design and state and workspace management.
- Direct experience implementing policy-as-code and cloud governance frameworks.
- Experience with cloud cost management and FinOps practices and tools.
- Knowledge of CI/CD platforms, container registries, and observability tools used by engineering teams.
- Experience applying AI tools to infrastructure problems is an asset.
- Strong documentation, communication, collaboration, mentoring, and technical influence skills.
