Responsibilities
- Own automated coverage for REST/JSON APIs, high-throughput serving paths, and consumer-driven contracts across service boundaries.
- Test authentication, authorization, malformed input, boundary and idempotency behavior, versioning, backward compatibility, performance, and latency.
- Validate event flows, reporting data, operational persistence, reconciliation, attribution, aggregation, and customer-facing reports using SQL.
- Test Kafka message contracts, schema evolution, ordering, duplication, replay, and consumer failure modes.
- Automate multi-step UI journeys across legacy server-rendered and modern TypeScript frontends, including component, visual, validation, permission, and tracking behavior.
- Diagnose production issues using logs, metrics, dashboards, and cross-service request or transaction correlation.
- Define testing isolation strategies for external and cross-team integrations using contracts, stubs, service virtualization, and real sandboxes where appropriate.
- Apply AI-assisted test generation, triage, exploratory testing, agentic workflows, MCP servers, and agent skills with rigorous review.
- Define the squad's functional, regression, integration, contract, performance, and data-quality strategy and embed trusted quality gates in CI/CD.
- Track quality metrics, provide release-readiness and go/no-go input, participate in incident analysis, partner with product and engineering leaders, and mentor QA peers.
Requirements
- 6+ years of hands-on QA or SDET experience with recent ownership of automated coverage for a long-lived production product.
- Hands-on API testing depth, including authentication, negative cases, versioning, and verifying persisted writes.
- Practical consumer-driven contract testing experience across service boundaries in CI, using Pact or an equivalent.
- Strong SQL skills for validating warehouses, operational databases, reports, reconciliation, aggregation, and attribution; BigQuery is preferred.
- Hands-on Kafka or equivalent event-broker testing experience covering schemas, ordering, duplication, replay, idempotency, and consumer failures.
- UI automation experience with a modern framework, preferably Playwright, across stateful multi-step and legacy server-rendered journeys.
- Experience using Grafana or an equivalent monitoring tool to investigate behavior and define quality signals.
- Practical experience with agentic AI, MCPs, agent skills, or AI test harnesses, together with critical review judgment.
- Infrastructure foundations including Docker, CI/CD pipelines, GCP or another cloud ecosystem, and the ability to read Java, Go, and TypeScript.
- Experience owning quality standards, framing ambiguous problems, making decisions with incomplete information, learning independently, and influencing engineering partners.
- Preferred qualifications include ad tech, programmatic, affiliate, marketplace, high-throughput or low-latency service testing, caching-layer testing, performance and load testing, test-framework migration leadership, OWASP familiarity, security testing, SRE principles, production ownership, and AI or LLM product testing.
