Responsibilities
- Become the Technical Solutions expert on usage metering, revenue-impacting behavior, and Cloud Cost Management across Datadog products.
- Lead escalations involving usage spikes, missing metering data, billing anomalies, attribution issues, quotas, plan entitlements, exclusions, and overages.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Finance to escalate bugs, clarify expected behavior, and improve billing and usage transparency.
- Build internal guides, tooling, diagnostics, playbooks, and customer-facing content for billing, usage, and observability cost management.
- Run training sessions and create scalable resources that enable global Solutions teams to handle usage, billing, and cost questions.
- Surface customer feedback and recurring patterns to influence product direction and roadmap decisions.
Requirements
- Demonstrated technical expertise in investigating usage, metering, billing, attribution, limits, overages, and customer contract constraints.
- Strong understanding of cloud cost drivers, usage attribution, and spend analysis.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP billing models, usage types, tags, accounts, projects, APIs, and billing exports.
- Ability to analyze data retention, high-cardinality signals, metric volume, log ingestion, and overage prevention and translate telemetry volume into cost impact.
- Familiarity with APIs, product usage metrics, tagging strategies, account-level configurations, and multi-organization environments.
- Experience working across backend telemetry pipelines and customer-facing technical issues.
- Strong analytical, communication, root-cause investigation, and problem-solving skills in ambiguous situations.
- Computer Science or Engineering major is a bonus.
- Experience using Zendesk, Jira, Confluence, or similar software is a bonus.
- Familiarity with Datadog, its integrations ecosystem, or similar observability platforms is a strong plus.
