Responsibilities
- Help drive the direction of Jane Street’s machine learning platform.
- Build and maintain training and inference infrastructure.
- Support the transition of machine learning work from concept to production.
- Enhance research workflows to tighten feedback cycles.
- Evaluate modeling approaches, including neural networks, random forests, gradient-boosted trees, and ensemble methods, to support decision-making.
- Design usable APIs and systems for machine learning workflows.
Requirements
- Experience building and maintaining machine learning training and inference infrastructure and taking work from concept to production.
- Strong mathematical background, including interest in optimization theory, regularization techniques, and linear algebra.
- Passion for following machine learning research, new hardware, and machine learning packages.
- Proven ability to create and maintain organized research codebases that produce robust, reproducible results while remaining easy to use.
- Expertise with an ML framework such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
- Inventive approach and willingness to challenge existing approaches and tool choices.
- Fluency in English is required.
