Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of technology projects and a team of developers building distributed microservices and full-stack systems.
- Design and deliver robust cloud-based solutions in collaboration with digital product managers.
- Use Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, databases, container orchestration, and AWS services.
- Provide technical leadership across Agile teams and establish standards for design, development, and operational excellence.
- Partner with architects to define service boundaries, integration patterns, and reusable frameworks.
- Identify improvement opportunities, reduce technical debt, and improve system performance through targeted refactoring.
- Evaluate emerging tools and practices and influence long-term technology strategy in a you-build-it-you-own-it environment.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to internal and external technology communities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience; internship experience does not apply.
- At least 2 years of experience with public cloud platforms, cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree, 7+ years coding with Java, 3+ years with databases and AWS, and 4+ years contributing to open source frameworks.
- Preferred experience includes creating synchronous and asynchronous APIs, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing frameworks, cloud troubleshooting, and observability-driven performance optimization.
- Preferred experience includes AI-based coding tools, interactive AI tooling, mentoring engineers, leading cross-functional engineering efforts, and establishing coding standards and design patterns.

- Full-time annual salary ranges vary by location: McLean, VA $197,300–$225,100 and New York, NY $215,200–$245,600.
