Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain AI agents, multi-agent systems, orchestration workflows, and scalable data pipelines.
- Select and deploy foundation models and scalable orchestration layers across hybrid cloud environments.
- Integrate structured and semi-structured data sources with enterprise data platforms, lakes, warehouses, dashboards, and analytics services.
- Perform data profiling, cleansing, standardization, transformation, validation, and quality improvement.
- Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot failures and anomalies, perform root-cause analysis, and optimize inefficient data processes.
- Implement LLM engineering practices including tracing, debugging, evaluation, observability, and model-output testing.
- Develop machine learning models, data and AI flow diagrams, technical specifications, APIs, business rules, and documentation.
- Implement data access controls, retention policies, lineage, version control, reproducibility, and compliance practices.
- Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, application owners, analysts, data scientists, developers, and stakeholders.
- Support testing for data validation, performance, integrity, expected outputs, and data quality criteria.
- Translate business and AI requirements into pipeline designs and contribute to architecture, scoping, estimation, and reuse decisions.
- Mentor junior data engineers or interns and support stakeholder training, onboarding, user guides, and internal knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, AI and Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience; a master’s degree is preferred.
- Five years of work-related experience in data engineering, data analytics, or AI/ML data processing.
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, containerized applications, Docker, Kubernetes, scalable data workflows, and sovereign or GovCloud environments.
- Knowledge of big-data frameworks, data warehousing, data lakes, data modeling, vector databases, graph databases, data catalogs, and business intelligence tools.
- Programming or data-transformation skills in SQL, Rust, Go, Python, and/or Scala.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or GCP and storage technologies such as SQL Server, Snowflake, and Parquet.
- Experience or knowledge with Python, AWS SageMaker, LangChain, Pydantic, Model Context Protocols, Amazon Bedrock, vector databases, RAGs, data integration tools, notebooks, and API gateways.
- Knowledge of streaming technologies including Kafka, Kinesis, and Pub/Sub.
- Knowledge of data privacy and compliance requirements including HIPAA, GDPR, and CJIS, plus the ability to implement AI within government policy frameworks.
- Knowledge of ReactJS/NextJS and UI/UX concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, collaboration, independent-work, and mentoring skills.
- Valid Texas driver’s license, good driving record, ability to provide a 10-year driving history, and continued compliance with County driving requirements.
- Ability to pass and maintain eligibility for a national fingerprint-based records check where access to criminal justice databases is required.
