Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable AI agents, multi-agent systems, orchestration workflows, and data pipelines.
- Integrate internal and external data sources with enterprise platforms, data lakes, warehouses, and analytics datasets.
- Select foundation models and deploy scalable AI orchestration layers across hybrid, sovereign cloud, or GovCloud environments.
- Perform data profiling, cleansing, standardization, validation, transformation, lineage, and reproducibility activities.
- Monitor pipeline health, troubleshoot failures and anomalies, identify bottlenecks, and perform root cause analysis.
- Implement LLM tracing, debugging, observability, and model-output evaluation practices.
- Document AI architecture, APIs, business rules, data logic, sources, transformations, diagrams, playbooks, and user guides.
- Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, architecture, cybersecurity, QA, data science, application, and system-owner teams.
- Support data validation, performance and integrity testing, deployment coordination, audits, compliance, and secure data access.
- Translate business and AI requirements into technical specifications, pipeline designs, architecture decisions, and estimates.
- Support dashboards, reports, self-service analytics, stakeholder training, and responses to data requests.
- Mentor junior data engineers or interns and participate in design reviews, planning, retrospectives, demos, knowledge sharing, and communities of practice.
- Maintain compliance with data privacy, security, governance, retention, accessibility, and County policy requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, AI and Analytics, or a related field.
- Five years of work-related experience in data engineering, data analytics, or AI/ML data processing.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, containerized applications, scalable data workflows, sovereign cloud or GovCloud environments, data warehousing, data lakes, and data modeling.
- Knowledge of big-data frameworks and technologies including Snowflake, Spark, Databricks, vector databases, and graph databases.
- Skill in SQL, Rust, Go, Python, and/or Scala for data transformation.
- Knowledge of Git, data catalogs, Kubernetes, Docker, business intelligence tools, cloud platforms, and data storage technologies.
- Experience or knowledge involving Python, AWS SageMaker, LangChain, Pydantic, Model Context Protocols, Amazon Bedrock, vector databases, RAGs, data integration tools, notebooks, and API gateways.
- Knowledge of streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, and Pub/Sub.
- Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations including HIPAA, GDPR, and CJIS.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, collaboration, and independent-work skills.
- Ability to implement AI within county or government policy frameworks and mentor junior team members.
- Valid Texas driver’s license, good driving record, 10-year driving history, and continued compliance with Dallas County driving requirements.
- Ability to pass and maintain eligibility for a national fingerprint-based records check when required for access to criminal justice databases.
- Preferred certifications include cloud architecture, data modeling, governance tools, AWS Data Engineer Associate, AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty, Snowflake, or Databricks certification.
