Responsibilities
- Write and debug low-level C firmware and device drivers for SerDes and die-to-die interconnect hardware.
- Extend C and Python SDK features for link bring-up, calibration, diagnostics, monitoring, and register access.
- Port and optimize firmware across simulation, emulation, FPGA, and real-silicon environments.
- Build Python tooling, lab automation, regression tests, and test frameworks.
- Improve build, release, and continuous integration flows across hardware platforms.
- Develop debug tools, command-line utilities, GUIs, and dashboards.
- Investigate firmware, software, and hardware integration issues with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Work in the lab on silicon bring-up and debugging.
- Contribute to documentation, code reviews, test plans, and firmware and SDK releases.
Requirements
- Be studying toward a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Have at least 1 year of academic experience with programming languages such as C, C++, or Python.
- Have experience programming in C and Python, or equivalent relevant project experience.
- Have knowledge of embedded systems, microcontrollers, computer architecture, memory-mapped registers, or device drivers.
- Have familiarity with Linux development environments, command-line tools, shell scripting, Git, and collaborative software development.
- Familiarity with build systems, automated testing, regression infrastructure, or CI tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins is preferred.
- Knowledge of digital logic, computer hardware, hardware/software interfaces, Verilog or SystemVerilog, and hardware simulation or emulation is preferred.
- Exposure to Ethernet, PCIe, CXL, UCIe, lab equipment, FPGA platforms, microcontroller boards, or silicon bring-up is an asset.
- Demonstrate strong debugging, problem-solving, analytical, communication, presentation, learning, and collaboration skills.
- Expected graduation date must be November 2028 or later.
- For a 16-month internship, be available from May/June 2027 through August/September 2028; for a 12-month internship, be available from May/June 2027 through May/June 2028.
