Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable Java-based backend services and APIs within Guidewire ClaimCenter.
  • Lead Gosu-to-Java code transformation initiatives using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and Amazon CodeWhisperer.
  • Analyze and re-engineer Guidewire ClaimCenter configurations, PCF/UI rules, business rules, workflows, integration points, and data models.
  • Architect and develop APIs and microservices integrating ClaimCenter with billing, policy, actuarial, and external TPA systems.
  • Collaborate with insurance business analysts, claims subject-matter experts, and architects to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, evaluate integration trade-offs, and contribute to technical design decisions.
  • Conduct code reviews, enforce coding standards, and mentor junior and mid-level developers on Java and Guidewire practices.
  • Develop and maintain unit and integration tests for claims platform components.
  • Use CI/CD pipelines, version control, and Agile/Scrum delivery practices.
  • Document technical designs, API specifications, and transformation guidelines for team and client knowledge transfer.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize ClaimCenter performance across production and non-production environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • At least 6 years of hands-on software development experience, with strong Java backend development experience.
  • Strong, demonstrable understanding of Guidewire ClaimCenter configuration, PCF/UI rules, business rules, workflows, integration frameworks, and data models.
  • Working knowledge of Gosu sufficient to read, interpret, and support Gosu-to-Java transformation efforts.
  • Experience designing and developing backend APIs and microservices with Java frameworks, preferably Spring Boot.
  • Understanding of LLM-based developer productivity tools and their use in code conversion, generation, and review workflows.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, object-oriented principles, and clean code practices.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and Agile delivery methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in cross-functional global teams.
  • Guidewire ClaimCenter Associate or Professional certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Guidewire Cloud, Guidewire InsuranceSuite cloud-native deployments, Integration Gateway, DataHub, InfoCenter, or Digital portals is preferred.
  • Experience with message-driven architectures such as Kafka, JMS, or MQ is preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance claims workflows, including FNOL, coverage verification, reserving, subrogation, litigation, and claim closure, is preferred.
  • Exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure is preferred.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, MuleSoft, Apigee, or AWS API Gateway is preferred.
  • Prior Gosu-to-Java migration experience is highly desirable.
