Responsibilities

  • Analyze business requirements and produce component, subsystem, and application-level designs.
  • Develop high-performance, sustainable applications using reusable components, stable interfaces, and common libraries.
  • Design and implement tools and drivers for data consistency, processing-speed measurement, and functional-accuracy verification.
  • Perform coding, code reviews, testing, implementation, release management, bug fixes, enhancements, capacity and performance work, and disaster recovery testing.
  • Prepare operational and procedural documentation for users and technical support staff.
  • Provide occasional third-level application support through rotational 24/7 pager duties.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to other development staff and act as a technical liaison across business and technical groups.
  • Assess technical viability and cost efficiency and assist with scoping, estimation, scheduling, monitoring, and delivery of application work.
  • Maintain knowledge of computer technologies, securities-industry applications, market directions, policies, regulations, and future development plans.

Requirements

  • University degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • At least five years of experience with UNIX, Linux, C++, Java, C, SQL, Perl, and object-oriented analysis and design.
  • Experience developing real-time transaction and batch-processing applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple concurrent assignments and delivery dates.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of TMX real-time market data feeds is an asset.
  • Securities industry knowledge or completion of the Canadian Securities Course is an asset.
