Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a cross-functional Java backend and React frontend engineering team while improving delivery predictability and quality.
  • Partner with Product and Delivery stakeholders to shape roadmaps, prioritize work, manage dependencies, and reduce release risk.
  • Own the platform’s technical vision, architecture, integration contracts, versioning, and deprecation strategy.
  • Establish reliability goals, observability, resilience patterns, production readiness, and operational improvements.
  • Lead incident response and post-incident reviews while reducing MTTR and change failure rates.
  • Architect, implement, profile, and tune high-performance Java services and collaborate on API design and backward-compatible rollouts.
  • Promote secure-by-default engineering, risk controls, automated testing, peer review, and responsible validation of AI-assisted development outputs.
  • Coach engineers, support adoption of approved AI-assisted engineering tools, and promote effective engineering practices across the team.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Hands-on expertise with Java 17+, concurrency, memory management, object-oriented programming, Spring, Spring Boot, server-side frameworks, and API design.
  • Experience building high-performance, latency-sensitive Java applications and maintaining mission-critical platforms.
  • Experience converting business requirements into technical roadmaps, OKRs, and measurable deliverables with Product, Delivery, and business stakeholders.
  • Experience leading the responsible use of approved AI-assisted software development tools, including validation for correctness, performance, security, and data sensitivity.
  • Understanding of messaging technologies and computer networks, with familiarity with FIX and Solace.
  • Experience troubleshooting software in Linux environments and deploying microservices on Kubernetes.
  • Experience with test-driven development, modern source control, continuous integration, CI/CD, and release governance.
  • Experience working with globally distributed engineers and communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Preferred qualifications include engineering team leadership, mentoring and coaching experience, familiarity with Python and React, and experience in investment banking, fintech, financial markets, or CIB Markets.
