Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and build large-scale distributed systems and software components.
- Improve system availability, scalability, performance, efficiency, and reliability for web and mobile platforms.
- Drive continuous integration and continuous deployment strategies while balancing velocity, availability, quality, and security.
- Automate operational tasks and reduce toil and time to recovery.
- Improve time to detect issues through observability and advanced alerting.
- Define and iterate on SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs throughout the service lifecycle.
- Participate in on-call technical incident support, identify root causes, conduct post-mortems, and create remediation backlogs.
- Define engineering standards and adopt new technologies.
Requirements
- 4/5 years of relevant experience in Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps.
- College or university degree focused on IT, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience writing software using object-oriented programming and languages such as Java, Node.js, Go, or Python.
- Experience with large-scale, complex distributed systems.
- Strong awareness and experience with Site Reliability Engineering principles.
- Experience with REST APIs, API integration, and web services is preferred.
- Experience with public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google is preferred.
- Experience with distributed message queues such as Kafka, AWS SQS, or RabbitMQ is preferred.
- Experience with containerized environments such as Kubernetes, Docker, or OpenShift is preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD build pipelines such as Jenkins, CircleCI, Argo CD, or GitHub is preferred.
- Experience with monitoring solutions such as Prometheus, Elasticsearch, or APM is preferred.
- Experience establishing service levels across teams and operating with them is preferred.
- Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible is preferred.
- Knowledge of networking concepts and technologies including SSH, FTP, TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and CDN.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficient spoken and written English, teamwork, and willingness to learn new technologies.
