Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain control plane microservices, custom Kubernetes operators, and reconciliation engines in Rust and Go.
- Author functional and non-functional requirements, architectural specifications, system sequence diagrams, and API schemas.
- Design gRPC/Protobuf and REST APIs with schema evolution and compile-time type generation.
- Develop integrations for SONiC, NVUE, Cumulus, modern network operating systems, and DPU hardware platforms.
- Instrument services with OpenTelemetry traces and metrics and perform root-cause analysis across distributed systems.
- Write Rust, Go, and SQL code in review-gated workflows with high test coverage and mock-driven testing.
- Contribute to open-source systems projects and participate in architecture and cross-functional design reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience in cloud-native platforms or systems programming.
- Primary expertise in Rust, including Tokio, Tonic, Axum, and sqlx, with proficiency in Go.
- Strong knowledge of async concurrency, lock-free patterns, distributed state handling, and mock-driven testing.
- Experience designing gRPC/Protobuf contracts with tonic/prost and applying schema evolution techniques.
- Experience writing Kubernetes controllers or operators with kube-rs or controller-runtime and CRD-driven reconciliation loops.
- Advanced SQL and PostgreSQL fluency is desired.
- Expertise or familiarity with datacenter networking, including BGP, MP-BGP, EVPN, VXLAN, L3VNI, route targets, and route servers.
- Experience with SONiC, Cumulus Linux, NVUE, NVIDIA DOCA, Host-Based Networking, BlueField DPUs, and the DPF operator model is desired.
- Knowledge of InfiniBand, NVLink, NMX-M partitioning, RoCEv2, Linux netlink, network namespaces, routing tables, CNI plugins, PXE/iPXE, UEFI, Secure Boot, measured boot, TPM attestation, Redfish, IPMI, BMCs, Linux boot chains, systemd, initramfs, and BIOS configuration is desired.
- Experience with PKI, X.509, TLS, SPIFFE/SVID, Vault, KMS, Keycloak, OAuth2, JWT, RBAC, KubeVirt, or KVM is desired.
- OVS and DPDK experience is a plus.
- Proven ability to write clear architectural specifications and participate constructively in design reviews.
- Demonstrated participation in or maintenance of open-source systems projects.
