Responsibilities

  • Own, operate, and optimize DynamoDB workloads in production, including data modeling, capacity strategy, indexes, TTL, Streams, backup and restore, and multi-region patterns.
  • Design, deploy, and maintain relational and non-relational databases, including sharding, indexing, backups, and performance tuning.
  • Use AWS services including S3, KMS, IAM, CloudWatch, DMS, and Lambda to build observable and secure data solutions.
  • Automate schema changes, capacity changes, operational tasks, and guardrails using CLI and SDK-based tooling.
  • Establish database observability through metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, SLOs, and alerts, and lead performance and root-cause investigations.
  • Collaborate on data access patterns, migrations, and schema evolution with minimal downtime.
  • Contribute to backups, disaster recovery, chaos and restore testing, incident reviews, and reliability engineering practices.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and handle emergency escalations, including off-hours support when required.

Requirements

  • Senior-level hands-on experience operating DynamoDB in production, including table design, single-table modeling, indexes, Streams, backup and restore, and performance and cost optimization.
  • Experience with AWS MSK or Kafka for event-driven and streaming use cases is highly valued.
  • Experience administering DocumentDB and/or MongoDB, including cluster sizing, replication or sharding, indexing, backups, upgrades, and performance tuning.
  • Solid knowledge of AWS cloud fundamentals for data platforms, including IAM, KMS encryption, networking basics, S3 patterns, and CloudWatch monitoring and alerting.
  • Proficiency with Python or JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, AWS CLI, and SDKs for automation and operational safety checks.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL/Aurora and PostgreSQL is a plus.
  • AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect or Database Specialty, or equivalent demonstrable expertise, are preferred.
  • Experience with Terraform or CloudFormation, Git-based workflows, GitOps, ECS or EKS, and securing cloud-native data workloads is preferred.
  • Strong English communication, collaboration, troubleshooting, ownership, and attention to detail are required.
