Base Salary
$170k - $297k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own retrieval for agents operating on live deals and balance answer quality, speed, and cost.
- Scale processing for large documents and data tables so agents can search and reason over content that does not fit in one pass.
- Build agent-facing search tools that return trustworthy snippets, citations, and document locations.
- Keep agent context aligned with data-room permissions and prevent agents from accessing unauthorized content.
- Determine when models can answer from retrieved context and when the product must verify results.
- Mentor engineers and establish technical direction for retrieval across teams.
Requirements
- 6+ years of building and operating production software, including a record of leading complex technical work across teams.
- Strong hands-on Python experience with backend services, APIs, and large-scale data pipelines.
- Experience building production LLM applications using retrieval, including tool calling, RAG, embeddings, vector search, or context management.
- Strong understanding of permissions, multi-tenant data, and access control for agent retrieval.
- Ability to make and communicate product and technical tradeoffs involving answer quality, latency, and cost.
- Preferred experience with long-running document-searching or document-reading agent workflows, production-scale vector stores, large confidential documents and data tables, hybrid search, citations, retrieval-quality evaluation, virtual data rooms, M&A documents, or agent search interfaces.
