Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain userspace C++ services controlling quantum readout instruments.
- Build and optimize near-real-time data pipelines between FPGA/SoC hardware and client software using DMA, buffering, and latency-sensitive execution.
- Implement and debug FPGA and SoC interfaces using MMIO, interrupts, and driver APIs.
- Develop networked C++ services supporting concurrent clients, versioned binary protocols, and service discovery.
- Design logging, telemetry, health monitoring, and crash diagnostics for remotely operated instruments.
- Develop simulation and mock modes, contribute to CI and hardware-in-the-loop testing, and validate software and FPGA changes.
- Collaborate with experimentalists, control/readout engineers, FPGA teams, and client developers.

- Ability to use AI tools for performance modeling, research, automation, and development efficiency.
- Familiarity with designing and building AI agents or copilots for engineering, experimentation, documentation, log triage, and knowledge retrieval.
- Preferred: 5 or more years of C++ development experience, including C++17 or later, modern C++ design, and memory management.
- Preferred: experience developing userspace software on Linux, working with device drivers and system services, and building concurrent systems.
- Preferred: experience with memory-mapped I/O, DMA, TCP/IP, binary protocols, CMake, gdb, core dumps, embedded Linux on ARM, Yocto, PetaLinux, or Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+.
- Preferred: experience with scientific, RF, signal-processing-adjacent instrumentation, ADC/DAC, data acquisition, timing systems, telemetry, health checks, watchdogs, simulation, mock layers, CI, and Python.
