Responsibilities
- Embed with operations teams and internal stakeholders to understand complex freight and supply-chain workflows.
- Translate loosely defined business problems into technical solutions and decide whether to extend existing functionality or build new systems.
- Convert manual, spreadsheet-based, and inbox-based workflows into automations and platform logic that can increasingly be handled by AI.
- Build and deploy prototypes, automations, integrations, and production-ready features using internal services, carrier platforms, and third-party APIs.
- Work with structured and unstructured data, including emails, documents, purchase orders, shipment data, and operational events.
- Test and measure solutions against real workflows and user feedback to improve manual effort, accuracy, processing speed, cost, and service quality.
- Identify repeatable patterns and turn them into reusable platform capabilities.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering, Data, and Infrastructure teams while retaining ownership of delivery.
- Communicate technical decisions, limitations, and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives.
- Maintain security, reliability, data protection, testing, observability, and maintainability standards and support solutions through implementation and early adoption.
Requirements
- Strong professional software engineering experience across the full lifecycle, including independently taking problems from discovery through production deployment and operation.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, Java, Kotlin, or C#; familiarity with Kotlin or Python is valued.
- Experience building and consuming APIs, webhooks, and system integrations.
- Experience with databases, data models, and event-driven workflows.
- Fluent use of AI-assisted development tools as a core part of the development process.
- Strong product judgment and the ability to quickly understand unfamiliar business processes and identify underlying problems.
- Ability to work with ambiguity, make decisions without perfect requirements, and deliver through experimentation and iteration.
- Confidence working directly with operational users and senior stakeholders and collaborating across Product, Design, Engineering, Data, and Infrastructure.
- Strong ownership of whether solutions achieve their intended outcomes, not only whether code is delivered.
- Good understanding of software quality, observability, testing, security, and maintainable architecture.
- Desirable experience includes freight, logistics, supply chain, B2B SaaS, operational technology, workflow automation, n8n, large language model applications, document extraction, email classification, ERP systems, transport-management systems, warehouse-management systems, solutions engineering, implementation, internal tools, forward-deployed work, cloud infrastructure, Terraform, CI/CD, and production support.
Benefits
- Remote work with flexible location, subject to GMT+0 to GMT+4 overlap with the UK team.
- Work directly with users and senior stakeholders with broad ownership from discovery through production delivery.
- Support from Data and Infrastructure teams while converting successful solutions into reusable platform capabilities.
