Base Salary
$125k - $150k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and debug software for the networking functions powering Alkira’s Cloud Services Exchange.
- Implement features based on requirements from product lifecycle management and sales teams in collaboration with engineering team members.
- Own assigned work and follow through on reported defects.
- Debug and resolve production provisioning and live routing issues as part of a mandatory on-call rotation.
- Work with geographically distributed teams across the United States and India.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer science, or equivalent, plus a minimum of 2 years of hands-on networking or routing software development experience.
- Strong programming skills in Go and C, including Go control-plane services and the C-based FRR routing protocol stack.
- Deep understanding of networking fundamentals and IP routing; BGP knowledge is preferred.
- Preferred experience with FRR, ZebOS, or equivalent open-source routing stacks.
- Preferred Linux networking knowledge, including interfaces, namespaces, the kernel routing and forwarding path, and routing-related tooling.
- Preferred experience designing and implementing multithreaded systems and performing systematic debugging and root-cause analysis for live routing issues.
- Preferred fluency using AI for tool development.
- Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud networking, including VPC/VNet constructs, peering, transit gateways, and routing interactions.
- Preferred expertise in L2/L3VPN, VPN or remote-access technologies such as OpenVPN, ZTNA or zero-trust remote access, and data-path technologies including encryption, NAT, and overlay tunnels.
- Must be currently based in the San Francisco Bay Area and already authorized to work in the United States.
