Staff Software Engineer
GE VernovaResponsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and define, develop, and evolve software for grid management and control products.
- Design modules, features, interfaces, and technical solutions across the product and its components.
- Lead design reviews, technical discussions, estimation, technology evaluations, and performance improvements.
- Develop high-quality code using Java and related frameworks, while applying software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
- Maintain code quality through unit testing, quality automation, and best development practices.
- Collaborate with Product Line Leaders, multidisciplinary teams, customers, and global colleagues.
- Mentor and guide others, delegate work, and translate complex technical requirements into development tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a STEM field.
- Significant demonstrated experience in commercial software development and advanced software development experience in the UK.
- Advanced experience with Java and Spring or Spring Boot.
- Advanced experience with microservices architecture and web services.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
- Hands-on web development experience with JavaScript, ideally TypeScript and Angular.
- Experience with Golang or Python.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithm analysis, object-oriented design, design patterns, and Java coding principles.
- Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, energy-domain software experience, Certified Scrum Master or Product Owner certification, AI/ML experience, and advanced WAMCS knowledge.
