Responsibilities
- Refine and execute GoFundMe’s multi-year payments strategy and bring core payments capabilities in-house.
- Design and implement the full product lifecycle for payout solutions, from ideation through launch and iteration.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, design, and external partners on payments infrastructure.
- Own critical technical decisions across ledgering, money movement, and disbursement.
- Mentor engineers through chat, code review, and pair programming while advocating for codebase improvements.
- Lead projects from conception to completion, communicate progress and challenges, and keep stakeholders aligned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in payment systems, including areas such as checkout and payment methods, payouts, ledgering, reconciliation, interchange, or KYC/onboarding.
- Experience architecting scalable services and systems using established design patterns and anticipating future use cases.
- Ability to lead projects from conception to completion while balancing technical trade-offs and business needs.
- Strong experience analyzing, diagnosing, and preventing performance problems.
- Expertise with application performance monitoring and log analytics tools such as New Relic and Sumo Logic.
- Preferred experience with Spring Boot, Kotlin, AWS, Kafka, Kubernetes, GraphQL, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Prior experience on a ledgering, payouts, or money-movement team at scale is preferred.
