Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable distributed backend systems in Go.
- Develop runtime-level components operating under high concurrency and throughput.
- Apply knowledge of Go scheduling, memory management, garbage collection, goroutines, channels, synchronization primitives, and context propagation.
- Optimize slices, memory allocations, data structures, and other performance-critical execution paths.
- Improve execution of custom third-party code through isolation, performance improvements, and feature extensions.
- Modernize runtime components for modularity, structured architecture, observability, reliability, and scalability.
- Improve trigger configuration and execution across webhook and polling mechanisms.
- Integrate and optimize Postgres, S3, DynamoDB, Kafka, and ClickHouse.
- Identify bottlenecks, race conditions, deadlocks, and performance degradation in distributed systems.
- Own initiatives from design through rollout and production support.
- Conduct code reviews focused on correctness, concurrency safety, and performance.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building scalable distributed backend applications.
- Strong understanding of large web application components, including databases, load balancers, application servers, message brokers, caching, and monitoring.
- Good understanding of network protocols and stacks.
- Good understanding of classic database and NoSQL technologies.
- Knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
- Multilingual programming experience; the codebase is primarily Ruby and is migrating toward Go and Rust.
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject.
- Strong debugging, analytical, problem-solving, and social skills.
- Readiness to work remotely with teams distributed across the world and time zones.
- Background in network programming is preferred.
- Application or data security experience is preferred.
- Deep knowledge of physical database design is preferred.
- Experience with Docker and other isolation technologies is preferred.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is preferred.
- Experience in DevOps, ML, DBA, or enterprise applications is preferred.
- Experience building or deploying data processing pipelines is a plus.
- Experience working with third-party REST APIs at scale is preferred.
