Responsibilities

  • Design and build full-stack services supporting customer communication, underwriting, collections, notifications, and account management workflows.
  • Translate operational needs into reliable automation that reduces manual effort.
  • Modernise and evolve system architecture while managing scalability, dependability, and maintainability trade-offs.
  • Own projects end to end, from understanding initial problems and shaping solutions through delivery and iteration.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and communicate complex technical topics clearly to influence engineering decisions.
  • Use code reviews and design sessions to promote strong engineering practices and staff user experiences.
  • Use data or metrics to assess whether changes achieve their intended effect.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing and building backend systems with Python and working across front-end codebases, particularly React or TypeScript.
  • Daily practical use of AI tools such as Cursor or Claude Code for boilerplate, research, or development workflows.
  • Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL or similar, including performance and maintainability considerations.
  • Ability to anticipate technical challenges and improve systems supporting complex workflows.
  • Track record of taking work from an initial problem through delivery, including solution shaping, trade-offs, and iteration.
  • Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical topics and influencing team decisions.
  • Familiarity with scaling systems or working on internal tools and platforms used by large operational teams is a bonus.
  • Experience with Django, FastAPI, React, CI/CD pipelines, deployment workflows, or data-driven evaluation is a bonus.
