Responsibilities
- Design and build distributed systems that support reliability and resiliency.
- Operate traffic control mechanisms like circuit breakers and rate limiting.
- Develop load testing frameworks to validate system behavior under various traffic patterns.
- Build chaos and resilience testing infrastructure to identify failure modes.
- Create systems for defining and implementing SLOs, SLIs, and error budgets.
- Develop tooling for incident detection, response, and automated mitigation.
- Review service architectures focusing on scalability and operational safety.
- Participate in incident response and implement systemic fixes.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Python, Elixir, or Go, with a willingness to learn new stacks.
- Strong fundamentals in operating shared production services and frameworks.
- Experience with traffic control mechanisms and load testing frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring of production systems.
- Familiarity with cloud-native environments like AWS or GCP and Kubernetes.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Bonus: experience with high-traffic or event-driven systems.
