Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain the team’s services.
- Mentor and support a small team of engineers in their growth and development.
- Guide technical decisions to deliver reliable, scalable, high-quality products.
- Work with a Product Manager to own and drive the team’s direction and product plans.
- Collaborate across Wise to expand platform functionality for embedded finance partners.
- Own the team’s services and product while advocating for engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java or similar technology stacks.
- Deep understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures.
- A product mindset focused on customer impact as well as technical implementation.
- Strong experience designing and optimizing relational databases.
- Experience advocating for coding best practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams and stakeholders.
