Responsibilities

  • Design, build, operate, and maintain production infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, including GKE, VPC networking, load balancers, Cloud DNS, IAM, and related services.
  • Own the architecture and lifecycle of Kubernetes clusters, including provisioning, upgrades, node pools, autoscaling, networking, capacity planning, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop reusable Terraform modules, infrastructure-as-code frameworks, and automated provisioning workflows.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure issues across Kubernetes, Linux, networking, DNS, cloud services, and distributed systems.
  • Design and maintain secure GCP networking, including VPCs, subnetworks, firewall rules, routing, NAT, load balancing, and service connectivity.
  • Build infrastructure observability with Prometheus, logging, metrics, alerting, and monitoring tools.
  • Implement IAM, service-account, secrets-management, and least-privilege security controls.
  • Drive infrastructure reliability, scalability, performance, and cost optimization.
  • Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and architectural improvements while minimizing production risk.
  • Partner with Platform Engineering, SRE, and Security teams; participate in design reviews; and mentor engineers.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on production experience designing, provisioning, operating, and troubleshooting cloud infrastructure.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience operating production Kubernetes clusters and directly provisioning, administering, upgrading, and troubleshooting them; application-only Kubernetes deployment experience is insufficient.
  • Deep knowledge of GCP networking, including VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, routing, Cloud NAT, Cloud DNS, and Cloud Load Balancing.
  • Experience managing GCP projects, IAM policies, service accounts, infrastructure security configurations, and production issues spanning multiple GCP services.
  • Strong Kubernetes knowledge covering cluster architecture, control planes, worker nodes, scheduling, networking, services, ingress, storage, resource management, node pools, autoscaling, and upgrades.
  • At least 3 years of professional Terraform experience, including reusable modules, remote state, and safe infrastructure change processes.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills with Python, Go, Bash, or similar languages, plus Git-based infrastructure workflows, code reviews, and automated validation.
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills and knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, routing, firewalls, and load balancing.
  • Ability to diagnose difficult infrastructure issues using logs, metrics, traces, packet-level analysis, and systematic debugging.
  • Preferred: 8+ years of professional engineering experience, large-scale or multi-region GKE operations, GCP multi-project architecture, Prometheus/Grafana and centralized logging, Kubernetes security, major infrastructure migrations, cost optimization, and highly available SaaS or distributed-systems experience.
  • Ability to mentor senior engineers and improve engineering practices, reliability, maintainability, and infrastructure scalability.

Benefits

  • Annual US hiring range is $150,000–$175,000.
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), wellness benefits, and other comprehensive benefits are provided.
  • The posting is marked remote/hybrid (#LI-Remote and #LI-Hybrid).
