Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and improve software across multiple applications and systems.
- Drive technical design, architecture decisions, coding standards, documentation, testing standards, and engineering best practices.
- Write unit tests, validate software against acceptance criteria, and lead code reviews.
- Conduct impact analysis, evaluate solution options, and recommend effective solutions.
- Debug production issues and resolve problems within and across applications.
- Lead technical direction across multiple applications and mentor less experienced software engineers.
- Create and review design documents, API documentation, code, and project documentation.
- Participate in Agile practices, sprint commitments, continuous learning, talent selection, and process improvement.
- Collaborate with business and technology partners to align technology solutions with business processes.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and regularly overlap with U.S. business hours.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 8 years of software engineering or comparable-depth experience.
- At least 3 years of recent Genesys Cloud experience.
- At least 5 years of recent Java experience.
- Experience leading technical direction for software engineering talent across multiple applications.
- Strong understanding and use of one or more object-oriented programming languages and design patterns.
- Practical experience with software development life cycle practices, Agile/ScrUM, Waterfall, data modeling, system design, and messaging.
- Experience with mission-critical enterprise-class applications.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced team members.
- Preferred experience with IDEs, APIs, JSON, REST/SOAP web services, JUnit, Jenkins, and Bitbucket.
- Experience with API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, and request and response modifications is preferred.
- Experience creating REST API documentation with Swagger or similar tools is desirable.
- Ability to use DDL to create database objects and relationships, construct advanced queries, and optimize query performance.
- Financial services industry experience is preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, stakeholder influence, business understanding, and technical coaching skills.
