Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and improve software across multiple applications and systems.
  • Drive technical design, architecture decisions, coding standards, documentation, testing standards, and engineering best practices.
  • Write unit tests, validate software against acceptance criteria, and lead code reviews.
  • Conduct impact analysis, evaluate solution options, and recommend effective solutions.
  • Debug production issues and resolve problems within and across applications.
  • Lead technical direction across multiple applications and mentor less experienced software engineers.
  • Create and review design documents, API documentation, code, and project documentation.
  • Participate in Agile practices, sprint commitments, continuous learning, talent selection, and process improvement.
  • Collaborate with business and technology partners to align technology solutions with business processes.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and regularly overlap with U.S. business hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 8 years of software engineering or comparable-depth experience.
  • At least 3 years of recent Genesys Cloud experience.
  • At least 5 years of recent Java experience.
  • Experience leading technical direction for software engineering talent across multiple applications.
  • Strong understanding and use of one or more object-oriented programming languages and design patterns.
  • Practical experience with software development life cycle practices, Agile/ScrUM, Waterfall, data modeling, system design, and messaging.
  • Experience with mission-critical enterprise-class applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced team members.
  • Preferred experience with IDEs, APIs, JSON, REST/SOAP web services, JUnit, Jenkins, and Bitbucket.
  • Experience with API security, analytics, throttling, caching, logging, and request and response modifications is preferred.
  • Experience creating REST API documentation with Swagger or similar tools is desirable.
  • Ability to use DDL to create database objects and relationships, construct advanced queries, and optimize query performance.
  • Financial services industry experience is preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, stakeholder influence, business understanding, and technical coaching skills.
