Responsibilities
- Design and implement safety-critical flight and vehicle management systems.
- Build scalable vehicle subsystems for sensor processing, state estimation, contingency management, actuation, payload interfaces, and mission-system interfaces.
- Develop real-time embedded software using an RTOS.
- Develop device drivers and interfaces for sensors and actuators.
- Create software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop test and simulation fixtures.
- Own software components across requirements definition, roadmap management, design, implementation, sustainment, and evolution.
- Support vehicle manufacturing and deployment throughout the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and mentor software engineers.
- Travel to co-locate with end users and other teams up to 20% of the time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency writing C++ and/or Rust.
- Experience with Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS).
- Familiarity with communications buses and protocols including CAN, CANFD, UART/RS232, UART/RS422, UART/RS485, SPI, QSPI, I2C, Ethernet, ARINC-825, ARINC-429, and MIL-STD-1553.
- Systems programming skills in algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and optimization.
- Ability to act as technical owner for a software component and engage stakeholders, define requirements, manage roadmaps, coordinate teams, and sustain software.
- Ability to mentor junior team members and contribute to team cohesion.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Preferred qualifications include embedded autonomous-vehicle software experience, high-assurance safety-critical software experience, sensor and actuator interface development, remote software troubleshooting, electrical and mechanical systems testing, DO-178 or IEC 61508 experience, navigation and communications systems familiarity, product delivery lifecycle experience, and Systems Engineering familiarity.
