Responsibilities
- Own application engineering strategy and execution across backend, mobile, and desktop platforms.
- Design reliable systems for AI-powered workflows, including state, orchestration, tool use, retries, fallbacks, and failure handling.
- Build APIs and abstractions connecting AI systems to real-world product experiences.
- Lead a small senior engineering team through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on mentorship.
- Make architectural trade-offs across latency, reliability, cost, security, and user experience.
- Establish observability, monitoring, testing, and operational excellence for production systems.
- Partner with ML leadership to turn model capabilities into robust, shippable product experiences.
- Improve system scalability, maintainability, latency, and reliability over time.
Requirements
- Significant experience leading application or product engineering for complex systems.
- Strong hands-on experience building and shipping production backend systems.
- Experience building AI-powered products or systems integrating modern machine learning or large language model capabilities.
- Strong technical judgment and ability to make decisions with incomplete information.
- Deep expertise in at least one backend or client platform and comfort working across backend and client platforms.
- Strong ownership, execution, code quality, reliability, and engineering fundamentals.
