Responsibilities
- Build and optimize high-performance workflows for large-scale mathematical and statistical computations.
- Own performance across Postgres query plans and indexing, batching, parallelism, memory behavior, caching, and correctness.
- Design dependable orchestration with queues, scheduling, retries, idempotency, backpressure, partial-failure handling, and observability.
- Build agent tooling, harnesses, guardrails, evaluation sets, verification steps, context, and human-review points for Essentials workflows.
- Improve integration and end-to-end testing for a complex service-based architecture.
- Set technical standards, mentor engineers, conduct design and code reviews, and lead cross-team scalability and agentic-development initiatives.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional hands-on engineering experience at staff level.
- Deep experience with complex distributed, service-based systems, including failure modes, data consistency, and latency across service boundaries.
- Demonstrated performance and scalability work involving large-dataset computation, numerical or statistical workloads, or heavy data pipelines.
- Experience building workflows with message systems, queues, or workflow orchestration tooling.
- Strong proficiency in several of Python, Go, Node/JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Postgres, NoSQL stores such as Firebase, and Redis.
- Hands-on end-to-end and integration testing experience, including an e2e framework such as Playwright or Cypress.
- Strong agentic development practice using coding agents and building reliable harnesses and evaluation workflows.
- Ability to independently drive ambiguous, high-stakes work, collaborate across teams, communicate with non-technical leaders, and establish engineering standards.
- Experience with AI systems, LLM applications, agent frameworks, retrieval, evaluation harnesses, or model-backed production pipelines is preferred.
- Background in statistics, data science, quantitative analysis, regression modeling, sensitive-data domains, customer onboarding, or large complex codebases is preferred.
