Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to evolve the Uber One membership program across UberEats and UberX.
- Develop high-QPS, low-latency services for benefits, offers, savings, and member engagement.
- Design and architect robust, highly available, scalable systems serving millions of users.
- Drive technical strategy for platform evolution, microservices architecture, and API design.
- Lead technical projects end-to-end from inception through design, deployment, and productionization.
- Define standards for testing, monitoring, and alerting and oversee complex organizational incident management.
- Align teams and stakeholders on technical designs, tradeoffs, and a shared technical vision.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, data scientists, designers, internal teams, and external partners.
Requirements
- 5+ years of work experience in software engineering building large-scale systems.
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in one or more of Go, Java, Python, Kotlin, Swift, or C++, along with strong hands-on technical skills and code review experience.
- Deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, distributed systems, system design, and architecture.
- Experience owning critical large-scale platforms and infrastructure services.
- Experience identifying architectural gaps and creating organization-wide frameworks that improve developer velocity and reduce technical debt.
- Proven ability to lead technical projects through all lifecycle stages.
- Experience defining testing, monitoring, and alerting standards and managing complex incidents at an organizational level.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners around a technical vision.
- Marketplace experience, including creating 0-to-1 features and optimizing marketplaces, is preferred.
- Experience with real-time marketplace platforms requiring high consistency and global reliability is preferred.
- Strong ability to navigate complex organizational and business needs, understand consumer needs through research and data, and collaborate technically across multiple teams is preferred.

- Base salary range of USD $202,000-$224,000 per year for roles based in New York City, San Francisco, or Sunnyvale.
