Responsibilities
- Develop firmware for Geotab GO telematics devices using C, C++, and Rust.
- Write unit tests and conduct integration and system-level testing in real and simulated vehicles.
- Maintain and improve testing tools and processes, conduct code reviews, and identify code improvements.
- Troubleshoot firmware issues on embedded targets and support architecture and constraint decisions with technical teams.
- Use SQL queries, Python scripts, and Google BigQuery data to assess device health and feature effectiveness.
- Maintain documentation for areas of responsibility.
Requirements
- Require 3–5 years of experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems and Linux.
- Require strong embedded-software knowledge of C, C++, and C#, including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns for resource-constrained systems.
- Require hands-on embedded-target development and troubleshooting experience, including familiarity with schematics and component data sheets.
- Require experience with SQL, encryption or cryptographic modules, and electronics relevant to firmware development.
- Value experience with Rust and scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Tcl.
- Require a post-secondary diploma or degree specializing in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Require strong communication, organization, troubleshooting, multitasking, and open-ended problem-solving abilities.
