Senior Software Engineer - Infrastructure
Toast, Inc.Responsibilities
- Build, document, and support infrastructure-as-code modules.
- Create tools and services supporting continuous integration, delivery, and deployment of highly available infrastructure.
- Develop internal tools that help move infrastructure from a monolithic repository to individual service repositories for use with Toast’s internal developer platform.
- Lead code standards and design practices across the Scrum team.
- Mentor and support developers using and extending infrastructure-as-code tooling and support systems.
- Design platform architecture and implement landing zones, network infrastructure, and security infrastructure for new AWS regions.
- Lead the build and scaling of critical platform features.
Requirements
- At least 6 years of software engineering experience specializing in DevOps, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Hands-on experience with object-oriented programming.
- Hands-on experience writing Terraform providers.
- Expertise with at least one public cloud offering, such as AWS, GCP, or Azure infrastructure SDKs.
- Expertise with infrastructure-as-code framework internals and SDKs, including Terraform providers or Ansible modules and plugins.
- Experience maintaining large-scale production and nonproduction infrastructure.
- Experience delivering cloud infrastructure through continuous integration, deployment, and delivery at scale for technology teams of hundreds of developers.
- Experience leading the build and scale of critical platform features.
- A desire to build a diverse team and prioritize customer success.
- Exposure to or experience using AI tools such as Claude is a nice-to-have.
