Senior Software Engineer, Operator Tooling

Base Salary

$225k - $250k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Embed with operators to understand processes, pain points, and success metrics and translate them into technical requirements.
  • Architect and build internal tools, automations, and workflows that improve operational throughput, accuracy, and visibility.
  • Lead projects through discovery, scoping, technical design, implementation, rollout, and iteration.
  • Balance delivery speed and quality through thoughtful tradeoffs, maintainability, and operational reliability.
  • Collaborate with operators, engineers, and product partners to drive adoption and measurable impact.
  • Mentor other engineers and help establish strong engineering practices for internal tools.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with end-to-end ownership from requirements through production support.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, empathy, and EQ when partnering with non-engineering teams.
  • Experience building internal tools, workflow systems, or operational automation, or experience in analogous customer-embedded roles such as FDE or solutions engineering.
  • Strong engineering judgment, including scalable system design, appropriate abstraction, and avoidance of over-building.
  • Track record of delivering iterative, high-leverage improvements in ambiguous environments.
  • Experience with workflow or backlog systems, intake processes, operational analytics, instrumentation, dashboards, or QA is a plus.
  • Experience building case management, review and approval flows, or data quality tooling is a plus.
  • Comfort working in a player-coach environment involving hands-on development, coordination, and mentorship is a plus.
