Responsibilities
- Own the design, implementation, and operation of Proactive Scaling services that generate capacity recommendations using forecasts, scaling formulas, and the Capacity Calculator.
- Build and improve automated pipelines that calculate, schedule, and apply capacity overrides for peak events and daily scaling across supported regions.
- Contribute to Reactive Scaling systems that monitor real-time CPU and throughput metrics through CloudWatch and PMET and adjust capacity when thresholds are breached.
- Integrate Scaling Planner with the Capacity Calculator, Fleet Management Console, and CloudTune Capacity Service for end-to-end capacity automation.
- Define and monitor risk factors, efficiency metrics, and guardrails and work with customers to close automation gaps.
- Lead technical design reviews, write design documents, and influence Scaling Planner architecture.
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design guidance, and operational best practices.
- Participate in on-call support, monitoring, alarming, and incident response for owned services.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Programming experience in at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
- Experience building complex software systems successfully delivered to customers.
- At least 3 years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Preferred bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
