Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain high-scale, high-frequency backend systems and APIs.
- Own features end to end from architecture and estimation through delivery, production support, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to migration and modernization initiatives that decouple legacy dependencies and improve scalability.
- Translate complex technical and business requirements into production-ready solutions with engineering and product stakeholders.
- Participate in brainstorming, estimation, and sprint-planning activities.
- Diagnose and resolve complex distributed-systems issues involving reliability, performance, and merchant impact.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend engineering experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java and ideally PHP; experience with Go, C#, or Python is valued.
- Experience building and maintaining large-scale, high-volume systems.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, queuing, caching, concurrency, fault tolerance, and scalability.
- Experience with financial systems, payments, or data-intensive applications is preferred.
- Ability to take end-to-end ownership and shape solutions with a product-first, outcome-oriented approach.
- Strong communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
