Responsibilities
- Act as a subject-matter expert on Stripe Tax to accelerate sales opportunities.
- Explain global indirect-tax requirements, including VAT, GST, sales and use tax, and mandatory e-invoicing.
- Architect Stripe Tax integration solutions for B2C, B2B, and platform business models.
- Conduct customer discovery and recommend solutions that guide implementation decisions and accelerate deals.
- Create reusable best practices and reference architectures for sales and pre-sales teams.
- Partner with the Tax product sales team, lead Tax solution strategy, and own key customer relationships.
- Represent the voice of the customer and influence Stripe Tax product and feature prioritization.
- Identify product, industry, implementation, and competitive trends and provide roadmap insights.
- Escalate complex technical issues to Stripe engineering for resolution.
- Represent technical business health in quarterly sales forecasts and identify deal blockers with proposed solutions.
- Support executive briefings, conferences, user groups, trade shows, and other marketing events.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role such as solutions architect, solutions consultant, or sales engineer for a global software enterprise.
- At least 3 years of accounting, indirect tax, or tax compliance experience within a technical sales organization.
- Experience working with or implementing a tax automation software solution.
- Strong knowledge of software engineering and architecture patterns and how diverse technologies and systems interact.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Passion for staying current with indirect tax laws and emerging compliance requirements.
- Ability to build strong collaborative relationships and work effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Preferred experience with VAT, GST, B2B invoices, mandatory e-invoicing including Peppol and national mandates, sales and use tax, exemption certificates, and tax IDs.
- Preferred experience integrating Stripe or other RESTful APIs into web applications.
- Preferred experience with tax automation solutions such as Avalara or Vertex.
- Preferred enterprise customer pre-sales experience.
