Software Engineer II
Guidewire SoftwareResponsibilities
- Design, build, refactor, and extend high-quality software services for Guidewire’s property and casualty insurance products.
- Develop cloud-based microservices and REST or gRPC APIs using Java and related technologies.
- Use Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud service platforms to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable services.
- Apply AI-assisted coding tools such as Claude Code and GitHub Copilot while maintaining code quality, testing, and security standards.
- Work with databases, observability, testing, and operational excellence practices in a collaborative cross-functional team.
- Explore and integrate LLMs, LangChain, retrieval-augmented generation, ReAct, prompt engineering, and AI services where appropriate.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of software development experience, preferably with SaaS or cloud solutions.
- Proficiency in Core Java and good working knowledge of the Spring framework.
- Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python.
- Experience building microservices on cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, with AWS preferred.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience designing REST or gRPC APIs.
- Ability to use AI-assisted coding tools with sound judgment about code quality, testing, and security.
- Understanding of object-oriented design principles and relational database persistence.
- Familiarity with MySQL or Oracle; MongoDB or CouchDB experience is a plus.
- Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps principles, with TeamCity, Git-based workflows, or Kubernetes experience as a plus.
- Experience with LLMs, LangChain, RAG, ReAct, prompt engineering, or integrating AI services into production systems is a plus.
- Strong collaboration, communication, learning, and problem-solving abilities.
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field.
Benefits
- Full-time position with a Canadian CAD base salary range of 87,000.00–109,000.00.
